Antioxidant Testing
Electro-Ox measures the Total Antioxidant Activity (TAC) of compounds such as anthocyanins, phenolics, vitamins, carotenoids, and enzymes in Fruits & Vegetables and other foods, nutritional ingredients such as Extracts, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
Electro-ox differs from other methods in 2 ways:
1) It is a more biologically relevant technique, because it measures the ability
of antioxidants to scavenge the Superoxide free radical.
2) By monitoring the antioxidant reaction directly (without the addition of color change or chemiluminescence compounds) the test results are highly accurate and repeatable every time a sample is tested.
This straightforward approach to testing antioxidants means faster turn around times and lower costs for sample testing and research projects.
You may have noticed that the activity scale is much broader than other testing methods. The broader range gives a more accurate relative difference of the activity of different antioxidant products and compounds. However, we also provide an ORAC correlation so you can directly compare with test results from other labs.
